Much of what we’re doing in this class is critical thinking and information literacy, examining claims and testing evidence—as ridiculous as it might sound at first, the current COVID-19 crisis is a terrific situation in which to explore, refine, and strengthen these skills. Also feel free to share feelings or stories.
Just a honest thought that I’m struggling to keep home life balanced with two teenagers an two adults home eating everything in sight, Helping kids navigate high school and college online, keeping my work life afloat – remotely working from home to support an elementary public school and support my work staff. And completely very complex assignments with no zoom or live time. It’s all very overwhelming.

Stings! Yes, not just me, I believe many of us had received economic setbacks from the reality of this outbreak. Like she said so many areas people have become demanding not intentionally but it’s what has happened. Its remorseful. A few weeks I was missing in action and unable to attend classes in February but the atmosphere from when this outbreak started to impact the schools the work the place you name it, even the who and New York as well, has had a non-individualized and uncanny profound impact. Those, especially those not allowed to work and those with bills to pay. Those the victims, sucks to be the victim, always did. I don’t know how much determination can be achieved with the resources at hand, still resources at hand, so I remained with the nerves of an amateur walking the tight rope. I am not here to ruin your day. Best words I hear about now “Be safe” With prayer and the best vote is for us and others to be safe and hope the efforts of identifying and eradicating the virus is truly successful and for better reliefs in the days not weeks not months ahead. Safeguarding the future of the years to come, hard to believe there are years to come, they gave this outbreak a number. I now probably use to like numbers. I never judge the brave heart of lions cause I know anyone can cry, even I and vice versa. Best words I hear about now “Be safe” Stings.
At this precise moment the whole planet is struggling with embracing “new normal”, and people want it to be over and back to “old normal”. Everybody just got knocked off of their feet and is trying to find a new balance. We are the creatures of many habits and we like it this way. The schedules, habits and securities went out the window and we’re running around like crazy, headless chickens. Unfortunately, looks like we are barely at the beginning of our journey. We need to stay in this ‘one day at the time ‘ mode, until we find a new way to implement schedules, habits and securities. But then the problems the virus creates are like ripples on the water after the stone sinks in it. We are still going to bear it’s consequences long after it’s gone. the “old normal” is no more.
I shut my extra income job last Monday, it was nonessential. The money stopped coming in. I don’t know what I’m going to do in two months. But until then I’m just going to spent time with my loved ones and do what’s right.
Nicole: understandably! Moving forward, I’m thinking of ways of simplifying assignments and—to take my own advice—doing more with less. I hope you can strike a balance that works. I’m not sure we can be very productive in a time like this, but I think that’s okay. In terms of the class, let me know if something’s not working, and I’ll see whether we can work through/around/underneath it.
Kishan: “I don’t know how much determination can be achieved with the resources at hand.” You put it well! Yes, the economic situation is dire right now. My strength to you.
Izabela: yes, taking it day by day seems like the best strategy. I will say, in times like these, I’m often reminded of the creativity and resilience of people living under hard times. And yet the uncertainty is crushing! Still, the uncertainty is also the necessary condition for the possibility of change. The scary part is that we don’t know what kind of change. Hang in there.
